Oh dear...

After having ceremoniously wasted my whole day wacthing One Piece... I started finally getting around to looking at my lab assignment/readings and all that and then it hit me... (oh wait i also looked at my e-mail and noticed an invite for an X-mas party too, but the date was what got me thinking)

where was I, ah yes ... then it hit me... my first exam is only a mere 2 weeks away, and 3 for the mad 5 days of Apacalypse (Exam/Wisdom Teeth). and to make it worse with my blatent love of procrastination (doesn't help either that Kenneth has finally fished me into the world of Soldat.. online shooter/worm-like game), that i am extremely behind in all my readings... to be truthful ever since the midterms back a bit more then 1 month ago i haven't got around to picking up my books to do readings, with the exception of preparing for labs... And some of the lectures just aren't sticking in my head.

sigh ...

anyways The OD'ing of One piece has tired out my eyes... need to rest... goodnight

Of Crayfishes and TTC

so yeah the newest lab that shall grace this blog has been accomplished today... No No we're poking at Rats today, instead we're sticking needles into crayfishes...

LOL its so funny watching the poor fella's being prostrated on their back with their legs flailing in the air.... eh yeah i'm getting a little ahead.. So what the lab was about hmm... Basically we're extracting the fluids that are the equivalent of blood for these little fella's, and testing it to see its blood sugar/glucose levels, and injecting some of them with chemicals to see if it has an effect on the blood sugar or not.

So thats where the crayfish on their back comes into place, the lab technician basically fishes them out of the water for us, and rubber bands them onto a wooden block (execution anyone?), and then using a needle we "pierce" the crayfish under one of the their legs and extract the fluid. If the crayfish in question is not the control then we injected other "stuff into them". Well sounds easy right?? Well not when these guys are alive, and that we don't nesecarilly get the sample on the first shot... my partner became so frustrated and kept poking the poor thing over and over and over again (i even tried with that one and to the same result). I took care of the injecting part. Anyways this ended having to be repeated again for a total of 3 times on the first part of the experiment, and another round of extarcts taken after 90 minutes, so a total of 6 extractions.

You could tell my partner was pissed, as he just let the needle go in as far as he wanted (might have hit vital organs), and extracted ALOT more fluid then we needed (they didn't have much to begin with too...)



And pretty much after that experiemtn i went straight unto the TTC. and after the train moves for less then a min we stop, and the classic "sorry for the inconvience, blah blah blah... essentially delays occur because of the snow messing everything up for ttc). To make a VERY VERY long story short...

It took me 2 hours to get home, when it usually takes 1 hour...

ah thats enough for today... oh i do relaise that some of my friends are frequenting their (and friends) blogs less and less these days...

A Job, A Job, I Do declear it a job

Well for the very first time in my life, i now have a real job... well its part time, but it still a real job...

To make it even better i didn't even lift a finger, never went in for interview etc etc... My sister took care of everything for me... LOL ok ok its not really that special... I'm just being a slave at the office (Berkshire Group), and filing files, and these odd jobs that doesn't require too much brain power... (but there goes my extra hours worth of sleep).

On the other hand, I should get started on doing the lab assignment for that "harrasment" lab that i detailed in the previous post... and start getting ready for the next lab this Friday... (think we're harassing crayfish now...)

hmm oh went through some more torture and went to my Uni's anime "viewing" club (with all those weird people), but on the bright side i won one of the raffles (and its one of the better prizes, not crappy posters/dvd catalogs that you could pick up at anime cons)


eh that should be my week...
Oh wait... OMG OMG OMG... it is now exactly one month until my "DOOMSDAY WEEK" (exams, wisdom teeth extraction)

Ah I feel so dirty...

I'm tired right now so i'll make this as short as possible

LOL Zoology lab today...

one of the parts involved was to obtain a "Pap Smear" of a female rat. Needless to say this was to be obtained by students and not the TA (wuss' were able to opt out and get the TA to do it, but ... yeah)... My partner was a wuss, and when we got up there, he nominated me to do the "procedure". Poor little Rat... doesn't help either that i ended up ruining that sample.. So we needed yet another sample later...

Oh yes should actually explain a little bit on the procedure. While the Lab Technician/Prof's... hold down the rat, the student uses a plastic dropper, and obtains a bit of water. Insertion of the dropper into the rats ... target region, occurs and the water is pushed out and re-obtained, then sampel is placed on slide and dried for later viewing.

So where was I? ah yes... so we needed to do a second slide... once again my partner made me do it. so far so good, but then NOO on the "re-obtaining part" of the procedure the sample refused to be sucked back into the dropper and was lost... meaning the poor rat is "sampled" again...

Anyways, yeah there coudl be many more stuff to say about this past week, and more about the lab... but yeah

I feel really dirty... I violated the poor creature not once, not twice, but thrice...

didn't help either that (lab bench people joked about .. AH yes how you must have enjoyed it (sexual inuendo) ... ie) doing it 3 times... and how its prob the farthest i'll ever get with a female... AHHHHH
