Terrible Addictions

Korean Drama - Dae Jang Geum: Jewel in the Palace
Well me and my sis has finally gotten around to seeing what the whole fuss about this show was, which had practically swept all over Asia, and had a huge following. Causing a huge uproar for Korean cusine and such in its wake (I could see why)
My Aunt had the series copied onto DVD, and lent it to us (including a nice stack of blank DVD's... (she just grabbed the spindle the show was in... time for me to get a dvd writer and "sneak a few disks away") Anyways started watching it on Sunday night, and GAH instantaneous addiction.
Anyways me and sis have finished off a quarter (or third) of the show by now... my eyes are dying, (had to finish my essay through all this watching) and i'm falling really behind on my anime watching because of it HAHAHA...
Anyways for those of you who've never heard about it or never seen it.
It's a historical drama, based on a real historical person, Suh Jang Geum, who is Korea's first acknowledged female physician, and got to become the King's personal doctor (male doctors only cater to males, female to females...) so hence her title Da Jang Geum (the Great Jang Geum or something like that).
So essentially the show shows her heritage (parents and their circumstances), to her entering the Imperial court, becoming a cook, and to the end a doctor.
The show is amazing as we get to see amazing Korean cuisine being cooked (man the King gets well fed...). Learning alot about food and their properties too (Green Bean soup could act as a counter agent to poison?? WOW). Also we get to see the Intrigue of court life and the scandals that occur daily, the joys of politics...
Very good and intelligent show, not shallow, very well made lots of emotions in it. (now i'm wishing that my East Asian Studies course (summer school) was also covering Korea this summer... but its summer (time constraints, so Korea got dropped for Japan this summer)
Anyways i'll talk more, but of as I said I've only seen a quarter to a third of it so I have no clue how it continues (asides from the fact that she becomes the King's doctor.)
Actually here found a link (haha also a blog site) that has more info/details about it
